One of the quintessential happenings of summer is the firework festival. Throughout this season there are firework events in practically every part of our region. Check the list below for an event near you.

July

Friday 18th - From 20:00 to 21:00 over the water between Tobata and Wakamatsu 4,000 fireworks will be set off. In the event of rain it will be postponed to Saturday the 19th. Access: 3 minute walk from JR Wakamatsu (ᏼ) Station; 5 minute walk from JR Tobata (˔) Station.

Saturday 26th - From 20:00 to 21:30 at the mouth of the Onga River in Ashiya town 8,000 fireworks will be set off. In the event of rain it will be postponed to Monday the 29th. Access: From JR Orio (ܔ) Station get on the city bus (sc) for Ashiya () and get off at yuubinkyoku, from there it`s a 5 minute walk. Or, from JR Ongagawa () Station get on the nishitetsu bus (S) for Ashiya (). The bus will finish its run at the kyouteijou ().

Sunday 27th - From 20:00 to 21:00 over Onga River at the Riverside Park in Nogata 7,000 fireworks will be set off. This event is special for its kilometer long Niagara Falls. In the event of rain it will be postponed to Tuesday the 30th. Access: 10 minute walk from JR Nogata () Station.

August

Saturday 2nd - From 20:00 to 21:00 in Okagaki 3,000 fireworks will be set off over the sea. Food stalls and other events are slao at the site. In the event of rain it will be postponed till the next day, the 4th.

Sunday 8th - From 20:30 to 21:00 in Shin Katsuyama Koen behind Kokura Kita Ward Office 3,000 fireworks will be set off as part of the Wasshoi Hyakkuman Festival. There is no rain day for this event.

Monday 4th - On the island in the Onga River 6,500 fireworks will be set off between 20:00 and 21:05. Located only a minute walk from the Iizuka Nishitetsu Bus Center. In case of rain it will be held on Friday 8th.

Friday 13th - From 20:00 to 21:00 over Kanmon Strait between Mojiko and Shimonoseki 13,000 fireworks will be set off. This is definitely the biggest fireworks display in the area. There are huge crowds and all forms of transportation are packed so get there early and expect to take a long time getting home. There is no rain day for this event.

Friday 15th - 10 minutes walk from JR Nakama station along the Onga River is where about 3,000 fireworks will be set off between 20:00 and 21:00. In case of rain it will be held on Saturday 16th.

Saturday 21st - At the Matsuri Minami in Shii Park, located at the end of the Monorail line, about 1,000 fireworks will be set off at about 20:50.

Saturday 23rd - As part of the Yukuhashi Summer Festival 2,500 fireworks will be set off between 20:30 and 21:00. The site is located 15 minutes on foot from JR Yukuhashi station along the Imagawa River.
